Sillvik : coast, beach and hike

A nice idea to get out of the city and enjoy the beautiful coast of west Sweden is to  take a trip to Sillvik.

From Sillvik “badplats” (translated “place to bath” – beach) you can either enjoy a good coffee at the seafront restaurant, have a lazy day on the beach or walk along the coastline (highly recommended).

Sillvik view 2Starting from the parking place, there is a nice 8km walk to do. Just follow the coastline, you should pass a several beaches, a small fisherman harbor and finally reach a house where the path along the coast stops. Look on your right, you should see a small dirt path passing between the houses and which ends on the main road. Cross the main road, at the first crossing turn left and then follow the path by keeping right at every crossing. This is a really nice walk in a pine forest, along a lake which will lead you back to the parking place.

(There might even be a little surprise along the way… I will not spoil it :))

To get there you can either :

  • take the car (about 20min from Göteborg to “Sillvik badplats”)
  • take a bus : Centralstation (train station) take the bus “Röd Express direction Lilla Varholmen” and change at “Torslandakrysset” to bus 23 direction “Sillvik”. Fore more information about timetables and itinerary check the bus company website : http://www.vasttrafik.se/
