Al-Khaluf : Pristine white sand beaches and fisherman village

Al-Khaluf is one of Oman’s hidden jewels. Often forgotten by tourists, having too little vacation days to drive down to the Sugar Dunes desert, it is for off-road adventurers a place that shouldn’t be missed! Take a look!

DSC_9560During my first trip in Oman, I had the chance to hike through the Sugar Dunes desert. When we reached the end of the desert, we continued along the coast on these magnificent pristine beaches. Think “white sand, turquoise water and billions of pink shells”, paradise… After walking down two bays, we reached Al-Khaluf village. Al-Khaluf is a fishermen village which has kept its authenticity. Forget shops, museum and touristic traps. This is the real deal.

But let the pictures talk by themselves…:)

Tips

There are actually two small Omani restaurants in Al-Khaluf. No menus, they serve dishes with what the products they found that day.

To get there

You will need to rent a car. No need for a 4×4 car, if you only want to drive to Al-Khaluf. However, if you want to step into the Sugar Dunes desert, you will need a 4×4 Landcruiser type of car.
